OUR STORY
Ralph Tuttila, a founding member of the Finn Hall Band, wanted to pass on the love of Finnish music to younger musicians and teach them Finnish music in the Finnish folk tradition. With a grant from Finlandia Foundation National, Ralph began recruiting musicians, teaching folk tunes, and bringing in other professional Finnish musicians to teach and share their craft. This love of Finnish folk music and its history brings a richness and depth to the group. And purpose.
Over time, Lauluaika began to form a group that has performed at different events from FinnFest 2017 in Minneapolis, MN, to a variety of events in the upper Midwest including Nisswa-Stamman, and even in the Upper Peninsula at Heikinpäivä in Hancock, MI.
